Kaina: The beautiful hillock is 29kms away from Imphal and 921 m. above the sea level. One side sold vegetables, fruits, fishes, household utensils etc whereas colourful handloom shawls, bed sheets, phaneks, khudeis, etc are sold on the other. One unique feature about this bazaar is that all the stall holders and the operators of the business here in this market are women. A little far is a street of beautiful cane baskets and furniture. Other than these, Singjamei, Kwakeithel, Heirangkhoithong, Kongba, Lamlong, Terakeithel, Naoremthong etc are some other smaller markets in the area. Locals have a legendary belief that the supervision of all these women marketers is done by Ima Goddess. The reputation of Khwairamband Bazaar of being the largest women-oriented markets of the country attracts the best tourist population to Manipur.
Manipur Zoological Garden : Situated on the Imphal-Kanchup road, this zoological garden is about 6 km. away from Imphal towards the west. One can see the rarest species of brow-antlered deer i.e. Sangai in these sylvan surroundings. The pine-growing hillocks that are located in the westernmost corner of Lamphelpat are really something not worth to miss. Established on 2nd October 1976, this zoological garden is surrounded by Manipur Agriculture University from the southern side, Langol Road from the west and paddy field from the rest sides. The availability of 55 species of birds and animals and the totality of 420 animals including 14 endangered species contributes the most to make this garden known as the jewel box of Manipur.
