Ford Endeavour SUV car Review

Ford Endeavour is a typical American Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) replete with a tall stance, a mean thumping diesel engine and an overall aggressive character. Ford hit the bull’s eye with this model in Indian market at the time when Tata Safari and Mitsubishi Pajero ruled the roads. However, the scenario has changed dramatically since Endeavour entered the market, which is now under the reign of undisputed champion in the form of Toyota Fortuner. Endeavour is still very much in contention and has its macho build, great on-road and off-road manners, powerful engine and competitive pricing working in its favour amongst the Indian buyers. The Ford Endeavour isn’t just a beefy looking SUV. It is perhaps the most complete models available in the premium segment with powerful on-road presence, tall yet composed stance and modern design inputs. The most noticeable thing about the car’s front fascia is the tall bonnet and chrome furnished huge radiator grille that is connected to the headlamps. The silver finish lends a premium character to this SUV which is evident everywhere from front bumpers to the intricate fog lamp bezels. The flaring big arches add to the SUV’s macho character and classiness to some end as well.

Endeavour comes fitted with big mean looking tyres, side steps and roof rails to complete the off-road look. The SUV has its spare wheel mounted on the fifth door that also has an anti theft hard top cover. The dimensions are typical of an SUV and Endeavour could perhaps be one of the biggest cars plying on Indian roads at the moment. The rear end complements the front styling and is abundant silver and chrome furnishing on the tail lamp cluster and bumpers. However, the design language seems pretty basic in comparison with other models available in the segment, such as SsangYong Rexton, Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V, Pajero Sport and Hyundai Santa Fe. One might feel that Ford engineers could have added some extra elements in the mix for Endeavour.

Ford Endeavour is available in two engine options- one powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine and the other fitted with a 3.0 liter diesel behemoth. The 2.5-litre engine model is rear-wheel-driven and the motor develops a competitive 141 bhp as peak power and a highest torque delivery of 330 Nm. The 3.0-litre diesel motor churns out a top power output of 154 bhp, and is available in All Wheel Drive (AWD) and 2 Wheel Drive (2WD) options. The stylish model is popular among SUV aficionados for being adept at both on-road and off-road manoeuvring skills. Despite being huge in size and bulky in nature, Endeavour possesses dynamic handling skills and is a driver’s delight, be it heavily pot-holed roads, vicious high rocky inclines, muddy terrains or river crossings.

Endeavour gets leather upholstery in all trims, which speak opulence of premium character and stunning looks at the same time. Tall driver and passengers can stretch their legs easily with capacious legroom space in the front and second row. The third row doesn’t offer much comfort and lacks space, but that is acceptable considering it is the third row! For optimum comfort of the passengers, there is ample air conditioning in all the three rows with controls mounted on both ceiling and AC vents. Speaking of the safety features, Ford Endeavour comes replete with several top-notch additions, such as ABS with EBD, front passenger airbags, dual airbags, passive anti-theft system (PATS), seat belts for occupants, child-proof rear door locks and a reverse parking sensor with camera. Further, the top-end trims get the cutting-edge integrated DVD system that comes equipped with touch-enabled satellite navigation system.
