  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D.pharm)  : This is a 3 years course with eligibility of 10+2 in Biology/Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Bachelors in Pharmacy (B.pharm) : This is a 4 years course with eligibility of 10+2 in Biology/Maths, Chemistry and Physics or a lateral entry from Diploma in pharmacy after passing out 1st year. This would also require a Competitive Entrance Test to be taken up prior to getting admission.
  • Masters in Pharmacy (M.pharm) : This is a 2 years post graduation course with minimum eligibility of B.pharm. This would also require a Competitive Entrance Test (e.g.GPAT) to be taken up prior to admission.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) : It is a 6 years course with 5 years of study and 1 year of internship at any hospital. The eligibility for this course is 10+2 in Biology/Maths, Chemistry and Physics, or a Diploma in pharmacy.
  • PharmD Post Baccalaureate : This is a 3 years course with 2 years of study and 1 year of internship at any hospital. The eligibility for this course is a Bachelor in Pharmacy.
  • PhD in Pharmacy : The duration of the course varies depending on the capability of the student and the university offering the course. The eligibility for this course is a post graduation in pharmacy (M.pharm).

Pharmacy offers great deal of career opportunities to the professionals both in terms of jobs as well as starting your own business. The job avenues available to the pharmacy professionals are in Pharmaceutical industry, government/private hospitals, research institutes, Universities/Colleges, and Investigation agencies. Pharmaceutical industry is one major area with highly vast career opportunities and number of domains wherein a pharmacy professional can think of starting with. The various domains under pharmaceutical industries are drug discovery and research, drug development, chemical synthesis, quality control, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, formulation, product management, marketing and packaging. Recently a new set of industries have come up called as Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) which offer a plethora of career opportunities to pharmacy professionals. These conduct clinical studies of drugs on animals and humans to assess the drug’s safety and efficacy.
